Saebom Yang
I am an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago. Through a space-oriented methodology, my practice is toward the relationship between the changing surroundings/environment and me as an artist, a citizen, and a living being. I create a transformed space through objects, sculptures, sounds, scenes, or narratives prompted by my surroundings. In this transformed space, material and place, history and present, detailed information and vague impression coexist. My work juxtaposes the macro human/non-human worlds and the repeated everyday world with these elements. I look into the friction created between them, and try to understand them as one world but sometimes get confused too. I want to deepen my connection with the world by creating and practicing various forms and materials which can bring this subject matter into my work and questioning how I live my daily lives in this precarious era and how I expand myself to another side of the world.
