Audrey Clarendon
Evanston, Illinois, USA
Audrey Clarendon is an oil painter and multimedia artist from St. Joseph, Missouri. She is a current undergraduate attending Northwestern University and studying Physics & Astronomy. After undergoing bouts of depersonalization/derealization disorder, Clarendon realized how understudied the condition was and thus sought out to remedy this gap in knowledge. These works are part of a series attempting to translate the feeling of being depersonalized into a visual context for other afflicted people to connect with and for the unaware to be educated. Clarendon explores the isolated surrealities of the depersonalized through paradoxical, radial, and emotion-imbued compositions to create a tender and comprehensive portrait of a community of suffering.
