Exploring nature grounds my journey of learning and understanding.

Captivated by chaos, intermingled parts, twisted and distorted in various stages of life, I seek beauty in the imperfections that naturally occur in the diversity of our environment. Drawn to plants that scream for attention with their colors and patterns as well as objects that appear mundane or muddled. I explore from afar and up close, capturing images with my camera, from various angles, above and under. With these images, I enlarge and manipulate. Sometimes my interpretations are representative, sometimes I obscure, decontextualize, and reconstruct.

I work primarily with pastels and watercolor. I like pastels for their purity and tactile qualities. Working with watercolor reinforces the importance of being in the moment and adaptable to the unexpected results. The process is a means of catharsis and self discovery. The purpose is to align my spiritual nature with this world we live in.
