The only way through is through. This piece is personal reflection on a difficult time and journey and the immense strength and resilience of the human spirit. It is a way to connect to others who are experiencing struggles and remind myself and others of the light that is both within and all around us. Never forget that light, despite the fear and doubt you may have. With faith, time and the support of others, we can find our way back and feel that warm light.

I am a psychotherapist, art therapist and visual artist, originally from Northern California. I’ve resided in Chicago since 2008 and currently work as a therapist at The Center for Self-Actualization in Evergreen Park IL.
I believe art making can be a bridge towards healing. Art Therapy offers people freedom and comfort to safely express themselves when talking is difficult or not enough. The process can encourage deeper self-exploration and awareness and help mend past and present wounds.
Much of what I create is inspired by the natural world, human emotions and experiences and our connection to nature. Creating art is a mindful, spiritual practice that can provide healing and connection, to self, others and the environment. For me, creating art is a very cathartic and therapeutic process, which has helped me reflect on life, overcome difficult times and gain perspective. A lot of my work addresses personal struggles—I often reflect on themes of acceptance and transformation, which stem from these struggles. My work has also become a reflection of the critical issues I’ve explored both individually and with my clients. The healing process of creating fulfills me and was one of the key reasons I became an art therapist—to support and inspire others on their own journey towards healing and growth.
