The daughter of a visual artist, Calvo grew up surrounded by paint but first became a writer and poet. In 2010, she prioritized her artistic endeavors and began classes with Chicago watercolorist, Ed Hinkley. Since then, she has had exhibitions at August House Gallery, Harold Washington Public Library, Gallery 1070, The Art Center Highland Park, Elmhurst Art Museum, Zhou B Art Center, and others. Her work has been published by the Syracuse Cultural Workers, Subprimal Poetry & Art, and Write City Review.
