In art, as in life, the solution does not always reveal itself at once. More often than not, the process of revelation is gradual and requires patience to see it in its fullness. I approach artwork in this manner of openness and allow the process of drawing or painting to bring me into a fuller understanding of the world around me. Art making is an act of centering attention, an avenue of delight, and a form of contemplation. Each of my artworks retains a physical memory of its making, suggesting its connection to both physical space that can be touched and the psychological space of symbol and intuition. My work is deeply influenced by the contexts that I inhabit and often contains recurring allusions to natural landscapes, architecture, and references to the human body.
